Apple has unveiled its first foldable phone called iPhone duo along with an upgraded iPhone 18 Pro range that commands a higher price in the UAE. The new products were unveiled during the company’s “Surprise and shine” event on Wednesday. Apple iPhone Duo UAE
Apart from the foldable phone, which had been previously speculated to be called iPhone Ultra, Apple also introduced several new products during the event.
iPhone Duo will start from Dh8,499 for the 256GB storage variant and will cost up to Dh13,599 for the 2TB version, making it cheaper than the previously anticipated price range. Pre-orders for the product will begin on October 16, while sales will commence from October 23rd in the UAE.
The foldable phone can also be opened to form a 7.6-inch phone from a 5.4-inch one and is made up of titanium, Ceramic Shield 2 glass, and an IP68 rating. Instead of using Face ID, the phone will leverage Touch ID on the side button while also featuring Apple’s new A20 Pro chip.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, going on sale September 18, both saw base prices increase by Dh400 compared with last year’s models, with the gap widening to Dh1,250 at the top-tier 1TB storage option.
The new models bring a faster 2nm-based processor, a variable-aperture 48-megapixel camera, and what Apple describes as its longest-ever battery life claim of 45 hours of video playback on the Pro Max.
Notably absent from Wednesday’s launch was a standard iPhone 18, an iPhone 18e, or an iPhone Air 2 — all reportedly delayed until early 2027.
Apple simultaneously discontinued the iPhone 17 Pro range and raised prices on older models still in production, pushing the iPhone 17 to Dh3,799 and the iPhone Air to Dh4,699.
Apple also refreshed its wearables lineup, launching the Apple Watch Series 12 (from Dh1,599) and Apple Watch Ultra 4 (from Dh3,199), both featuring a new health-sensing system capable of reading heart rate every five seconds.
The AirPods 5, priced from Dh549, brought noise cancellation to Apple’s entry-level earbuds for the first time. Separately, Apple flagged plans to introduce usage limits on its Siri and Apple Intelligence features, with pricing details yet to be announced. UAE Interact
