The NCM forecasts possible rain in eastern areas, while cooler UAE mountains could offer better conditions for stargazing.
Dubai: It’s another warm day in the UAE, marked by partial cloud cover and a chance of rainfall in the eastern region of the country.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather will be fair to partly cloudy today, with the probability of convective cloud formation in the eastern parts of the country by the afternoon. This means you may see rainfall, if you are located in places like Fujairah, Kalba and Khor Fakkan.
Steady mid-40s heat
Temperatures are holding steady today in the mid-40s, across the UAE.
Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Umm Al Quwain will see a maximum temperature of 45°C today, while Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah will see a high of 44°C. Fujairah will remain relatively cooler, with a peak of 37°C.
Sea conditions remain calm
The NCM forecasts light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, and averaging speeds of 10 to 25km/h. Wind speeds may reach 40km/h in inland areas, stirring up dust.
However, sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, according to the NCM. This means you can expect gentle waves, reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.
Cooler mountains for stargazing
Tonight, enjoy watching the Perseids meteor shower by heading to relatively cooler spots, like the UAE’s mountainous regions, such as Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet. The NCM expects these areas to remain cooler, with a temperature range of 32°C to 38°C.
