New lane added on key Dubai corridor near Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station to ease congestion and cut peak-hour travel times

Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a 2-kilometre road widening project on Sheikh Zayed Road, adding a new lane for traffic travelling from Abu Dhabi towards the World Trade Centre Interchange.
According to the RTA, the enhancement is located near Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station and increases the number of lanes on the busy section of Sheikh Zayed Road from six to seven.
The project is expected to increase road capacity by 17% and reduce journey times by up to 10% during peak hours, improving traffic flow on one of Dubai’s busiest transport corridors.
The additional lane serves motorists travelling towards the World Trade Centre area and forms part of the RTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance road infrastructure and accommodate growing traffic volumes across the emirate.
The authority said the upgrade will contribute to smoother traffic movement and improved connectivity along Sheikh Zayed Road, a key arterial route linking several major commercial, residential and business districts in Dubai.
