UAE weather forecast: NCM forecasts rain, dusty winds and hot conditions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi

Eastern and southern areas could see rainfall as strong winds raise dust and temperatures remain in the mid-to-high 40s.

Dubai: Watch out for rainfall and blowing dust in the UAE today.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts partly cloudy weather today, in general, with convective clouds formation over some eastern and southern areas, associated with rainfall.

Strong winds and dust

Yesterday, the NCM alerted residents and visitors to strong winds causing blowing dust and sand, with a speed of 70 km/hr over some eastern, internal and southern areas until 10pm. These conditions may repeat today, especially in areas like Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and further east towards Fujairah, according to the authorities.

The NCM advises individuals to take precautionary measures in such situations, by limiting exposure to dust, and ensuring windows and doors are locked to prevent dust particles from entering one’s home. The authorities also advise being cautious when outdoors in gusty weather, as there is a possibility of loose materials dislodging from facades of buildings or homes.

Low humidity, high temperature

Even as rainfall is expected in some eastern and southern areas, temperatures across the UAE are expected to remain high today.

The NCM forecasts coastal and island areas to record highs of 42°C to 47°C, while internal areas will range between 45°C and 49°C.

Among major cities, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are expected to be the warmest cities today, with a peak temperature of 47°C. Sharjah will see a high of 46°C today, while Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah will hit 45°C.

Sea conditions stay calm

If you’re heading to the beach, both the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman are expected to see slight conditions, which means gentle waves rising to a maximum of two feet on-shore, and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

Dubai 45°C 36°C

Abu Dhabi 47°C 35°C

Al Ain 47°C 35°C

Sharjah 46°C 33°C

Ajman 41°C 35°C

Fujairah 39°C 32°C

Ras Al Khaimah 45°C 32°C

Umm Al Quwain 43°C 29°C

Liwa 48°C 31°C
