UAE weather forecast: NCM predicts weekend rain, dust and highs of 49°C

Here’s what the NCM predicts for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE, including dust, wind and rainfall chances.

Dubai: Expect a hot, dusty weekend across the UAE, with afternoon rain likely in parts of the east, south, and some internal areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Residents and visitors planning outdoor activities should also be prepared for stronger winds that may set off blowing dust, particularly in exposed areas, according to the NCM.

Rain to continue, as dust blows

Today, the weather will be partly cloudy and dusty at times, with convective clouds developing over eastern and southern areas before extending into some internal regions, bringing a chance of rainfall by the afternoon.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds are expected to freshen at times, reaching up to 50km/h inland and causing blowing dust. In such conditions, the NCM advises individuals to limit exposure to atmospheric dust particles, and drive carefully, as the haze may lead to reduced horizontal visibility.

A similar pattern is forecast for Sunday, with partly cloudy skies, dusty conditions, and afternoon convective cloud formation over eastern, western and some internal areas, accompanied by rainfall.

Temperatures stay high

Despite the chance of rain, temperatures are expected to remain high this weekend.

The NCM forecasts temperatures in coastal and island areas to range between 41°C to 46°C, while internal areas will range between 45°C to 49°C.

Dubai and Sharjah are seeing peaks of 45°C today, while Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain are slightly higher at 46°C. Liwa will see the highest temperature today, at 48°C.

Sea conditions calm

For those heading to the coast, sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman throughout the weekend. This means you can expect generally calm waters despite the stronger inland winds, as waves reach heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

Dubai 45°C 35°C

Abu Dhabi 46°C 33°C

Al Ain 46°C 35°C

Sharjah 45°C 31°C

Ajman 43°C 34°C

Fujairah 39°C 32°C

Ras Al Khaimah 46°C 29°C

Umm Al Quwain 42°C 28°C

Liwa 48°C 32°C
