Severe Gridlock Snarls Major Dubai-Sharjah Arteries as Authorities Issue Safety Advisories

Commuters moving between Dubai and Sharjah had a time on Friday morning. The traffic was so heavy that it stopped the highways and busy city intersections.

The morning traffic jam affected the E11, which’s Al Ittihad Road and the E311, which is Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. There were lines at the places where the emirates meet and in the industrial areas. A lot of people were on the roads. Some spots caused big delays during the morning rush.

This made the transportation officials and the police give advice to drivers in the Northern Emirates about safety and how to get around.

On the E311 highway the traffic moved slowly near Al Twar 3 heading toward Dubai International Airport. The movement around Madinat Al Maktoum was also slow. Up north there were really long lines on Sharjah Industrial Area 13. But going back from Dubai International Airport, to Al Rashidiya had easier traffic.

The inter-emirate border experienced some of the day’s heaviest delays, with bumper-to-bumper traffic along E11 extending from the Sahara Centre landmark through the D93 and 4th Street interchange. Secondary tailbacks impacted neighboring commercial zones, including Deira and Abu Hail along the D92 transit connections.

Industrial districts in both emirates recorded severe slowdowns. In Sharjah, heavy vehicular build-ups affected Muwaileh Commercial as well as Industrial Areas 10 and 15.

In northern Dubai, transit was restricted along Damascus Street (D64) past Madina Mall, while Beirut Street (D62) saw persistent queuing through Al Qusais toward Al Twar. Additional slowdowns occurred along Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street (D90) in Al Hudaiba and Al Asayel Street (D72) within Jebel Ali.

Amid soaring regional temperatures, Dubai Police issued reminders urging motorists to verify the proper operation of their vehicle air-conditioning systems prior to travel.

Law enforcement noted that optimal cabin cooling plays a vital role in preventing driver exhaustion and reducing heat-related medical hazards during extended congestion. Drivers were advised to inspect vehicle mechanics, monitor live traffic updates, and consider alternate bypass routes to navigate the widespread delays.
