Dubai Police Issue Urgent Public Warning Against Rising Online Scam Networks and Deceptive Digital Ads

The police in Dubai are telling people to be careful about ads and job offers on the internet. They are warning people about employment offers and investment schemes that are on social media and other websites that are not trustworthy.

The people in charge of stopping fraud in Dubai say that some bad people are using the internet to trick others. They know that a lot of people want to work from home or make some money. So they put up ads on social media that promise people a lot of money for doing very little work.

The truth is that these ads are often just a way for the bad people to get money from others or to get them involved in illegal activities with money. The police in Dubai want people to be aware of these ads and job offers so they can stay safe.

Security officials highlighted that bad actors lure targets by instructing them to open new bank accounts, handle fund transfers from untraceable origins, or pay advance “registration” and “account activation” fees under the guise of recruitment onboarding.

In several instances, victims have unwittingly allowed their personal banking credentials to be utilized for laundering stolen funds, potentially subjecting them to severe legal liabilities alongside substantial financial losses.

Beyond bogus job listings, the police advisory underscored threats posed by unauthorized trading platforms and social media campaigns promoting counterfeit luxury items. Authorities noted that influencers and young social media users are frequently targeted by rogue entities offering cash to advertise knockoff products.

Officials reminded the public that under UAE federal laws, ignorance of intellectual property and commercial regulations does not exempt individuals from legal prosecution.

To combat these evolving digital threats, Dubai Police urged the public to strictly verify the regulatory licensing and legal credentials of any employer, investment broker, or commercial vendor before executing transactions.

Legitimate organizations operating within the Emirates do not demand upfront recruitment fees or require urgent money transfers through personal accounts.

Residents are advised to maintain strict digital vigilance and refrain from sharing sensitive financial credentials on non-secured portals.

Law enforcement authorities stressed that community awareness and prompt reporting remain the strongest defense against cybercrime, urging anyone who encounters suspicious digital advertisements to report incidents immediately through the official eCrime platform or by contacting the non-emergency 901 helpline.
