Dubai Future Foundation and Oxa Launch Autonomous Logistics Lab to Advance Smart Transport Solutions

Dubai has once again pioneered in its efforts to establish its status as an emirate at the forefront of cutting-edge technology by introducing a new autonomous logistics venture. The innovative project aims to promote the development of driverless logistic solutions for industrial transport.

The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and autonomous car technology company Oxa have joined efforts to create SHIFFT as a joint venture that will be the future logistics innovation lab. The lab will be part of the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Ecosystem, where advanced logistic technologies will be prototyped and eventually taken to market. The future project is yet another step by Dubai to position itself as a global logistics and futuristic mobility hub while promoting the development of new ideas in the fields of transport and related spheres.

During its initial phase, the lab will concentrate on autonomous vehicle applications for ports and airports, two sectors that play a central role in Dubai’s trade and supply chain network. The partners expect the first commercial deployment of the technology in Dubai before the end of 2027, paving the way for wider adoption across industrial environments.

The SHIFFT platform is designed to combine autonomous driving capabilities with cloud-based fleet management, operational intelligence and real-time worksite data analysis. By integrating these technologies with existing industrial vehicles and equipment, the venture aims to improve efficiency, safety and productivity while reducing operational complexity.

According to Dubai Future Foundation, the project also contributes to the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to strengthen the emirate’s global competitiveness and double its foreign trade by 2033. Officials say the initiative reflects Dubai’s broader strategy of transforming emerging technologies into commercially viable solutions that generate economic value and support future industries.

Oxa said the partnership will help accelerate the commercial rollout of industrial mobile autonomy technologies, enabling logistics operators to manage vehicle fleets more efficiently while enhancing reliability and workplace safety. The collaboration further reinforces Dubai’s commitment to investing in artificial intelligence, automation and innovation as key drivers of future economic growth.
