Photo: Ministério das FinançasFinance Minister Carla Loveira held separate meetings with the ambassadors of the Swiss Confederation and the United Arab Emirates. The meetings aimed to reaffirm Mozambique’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting partnerships geared towards the country’s economic and social development.
During the meeting with Switzerland’s Ambassador to Mozambique Nicolas Randin, the minister highlighted the strength of the cooperation between the two countries, which has spanned more than four decades and continues to deliver results in strategic areas for national development.
The discussions recognised the important support provided by Swiss Cooperation in sectors such as health, through funding for the PROSAÚDE programme, as well as initiatives promoting good governance, combating corruption, asset recovery and poverty reduction.
The Finance Minister reiterated the Government’s interest in continuing to deepen this partnership, aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the priorities set out in the Government’s Five-Year Programme.

Talks with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Mozambique, Mansour Mohamed Aljuwaied, focused on strengthening economic and trade cooperation, with emphasis on negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), a strategic instrument to boost trade, attract investment and strengthen Mozambique’s integration into regional and global markets.
The Finance Minister also highlighted the main economic and financial reforms under way to strengthen macroeconomic stability, improve public finance management and create a more favourable environment for investment. She further noted that the national economy is showing signs of recovery, driven by ongoing reforms and growth in strategic sectors.
She welcomed the United Arab Emirates’ intention to host the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in 2029, expressing Mozambique’s willingness to support the bid, thereby further strengthening the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
