UAE Summer Safety Campaign Urges Motorcycle Riders to Stay Hydrated and Take Regular Breaks

Motorcycle riders across the UAE are being advised to take care of their health and safety on the roads during the hot summer weather. Authorities are urging riders to ensure that they hydrate their bodies before riding, take regular breaks while on the road and wear the right gear while on the roads. The measures are aimed at reducing the effect of heat on the riders as they are on the road.

Authorities say they advise the regular consumption of water during the hot summer to help reduce cases of dehydration, which may result in fatigue and concentration problems leading to road accidents. In addition, motorcycle riders should take regular breaks to avoid fatigue, which may also cause similar impairments.

Authorities remind motorcycle riders not to be on the road for long in the extreme heat as it can cause adverse effects on the body, especially for those who are not used to the extreme heat of the summer. The initiative forms part of wider seasonal efforts to promote road safety and protect outdoor workers and commuters during the hottest months of the year.

Man in a neon safety vest talks to a seated cyclist in a yellow and teal Keeta uniform, who is holding a helmet in a tiled airport or transit area with onlookers nearby.

Riders have been urged to monitor their physical condition throughout their journeys and avoid travelling if they begin to experience symptoms such as dizziness, excessive fatigue or reduced alertness. Taking regular breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, maintaining adequate hydration and planning routes to minimise unnecessary exposure to extreme heat are among the key recommendations.

Officials also highlighted the importance of using certified safety equipment, including helmets, gloves, protective jackets and suitable footwear. While such gear offers critical protection in the event of a crash, it should also be selected to provide comfort and ventilation during summer riding conditions without compromising safety standards.

The campaign encourages employers, particularly those operating delivery fleets and commercial motorcycle services, to support rider welfare by promoting hydration, allowing sufficient recovery periods and reinforcing safe riding practices throughout the working day.

Authorities said road safety is a shared responsibility and stressed that simple preventive measures can significantly reduce the risks associated with riding in extreme weather. By combining proper preparation with responsible riding behaviour, motorcyclists can continue to travel safely while protecting both themselves and other road users during the UAE’s summer season.
